Cape Kaliakra and its archaeological findings are located 12 km south-east of the town of Kavarna. It is a narrow, rocky peninsula extending about 2 km into the sea. This is one of the most attractive places for tourists on the Black Sea coast, owing to its rich history, preserved nature and beautiful panoramic views.

Many stories and legends are associated with Cape Kaliakra. The most famous tells of 40 Bulgarian maidens who jumped into the sea from the rocks to escape the Ottoman Turks.
